Coming Together in His Name

Worship stands at the center of our faith at First Lutheran Church, the inspiration and strength from which flows all our mission activities.
In this time of gathering in God's name, all people of any condition or state in life are welcomed and thoroughly received by God. In worship, God's loving, accepting, renewing presence is all around us. We are promised this happens as the Holy Word is seen, heard, sung, and proclaimed; as blessed water is poured in the Sacrament of Baptism; as we can't help but think of the cross, where Christ's body was broken and his bloodshed, as we eat and drink the consecrated bread and wine of Holy Communion, the gift of a risen and living Lord.
By God's power we are made the Body of Christ. We celebrate that we are together to share joys and burdens, to encourage, support, and strengthen each other with gifts bestowed from God's hand.
Then, having truly and deeply encountered the life, death and resurrection of God's Son, we depart, re-created and prepared to offer God's love and care to our own part of the world.
In conclusion, come and join us in celebration! There is a place for you at First Lutheran.
To God be the glory.

Worship Times

SUNDAYS 8:00am, 9:15am, and 10:30am
Worship services take place three times on Sunday mornings--8:00, 9:15, and 10:30--in the hope we can accommodate a variety of schedules. The services are traditional liturgical and are supported musically with a magnificent Cassavant organ, keyboard, an up to eighty voice choir, and on occasion, instrumentalists and hand bells
For those whom Sunday morning is not an option, we offer Saturday Evening Worship at 5:00 p.m. Held in our upper level Worship Center, the smaller group is less formal and provides a more intimate atmosphere. It, too, follows a liturgy and the same message as Sunday morning is heard.
All services are printed in full, including large print, for ease of following. Hearing devices are available.
Holy Communion is celebrated in full liturgy on the first and third Sundays of the month. Communion is offered with a brief service following the main service on second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month, thereby being available every week. Saturday evening is always a Communion service. Gluten free wafers are easily available by request. Grape juice is offered along with wine.
Being a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, First Lutheran practices open communion, meaning all baptized believers are welcome to receive. Those not yet baptized are invited to the altar for a blessing by a pastor.
Baptisms are arranged by attending a baptism seminar offered the first Tuesday of each month.
Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday offer an expanded schedule of services that will be widely publicized. Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Holy (Maundy) Thursday, and Good Friday will be observed in worship as well.
In conclusion, come and join us in celebration! There is a place for you at First Lutheran.
To God be the glory.
