My husband and I have been members of First Lutheran since 1977 after moving to Colorado from our hometown of Minot, ND. Our two children, Brooke and Cara, were baptized and confirmed here at First Lutheran. They are now both married and have provided us with four precious grandchildren. I have been working at the church since January 2010 and feel blessed to be involved in the following ministries: Christian Care Givers is a lay visitation ministry to the ill and bereaved. Trained caregivers deliver a “care package” from the church as a follow-up to visits and/or calls made by our pastors. Crafters and note writers are also a vital part of this caring ministry. Journey Through Grief continues our care and support to those experiencing grief after the death of a loved one. Four books are sent periodically during the first year of loss. The hope is that these books will shed a light on the journey through the first year of grief and bring bits of comfort along the way. Retired Person’s field trips or potlucks are held monthly throughout the year. Three church buses carry members to a variety of locations in or around the Colorado Springs area. Potluck lunches are held here at church during the winter months, along with an entertaining or informative program.
