Judy Wach

Director of Special Events & Programs In Christian Ministry

Hello, my name is Judy Wach and I am a native of Colorado Springs and a member of First Lutheran Church since June, 1974.  My husband Delbert and I have three grown children and seven grandchildren.

I have been continually active in the congregation serving as Sunday school teacher, volunteer in Vacation Church School and directing the children's Christmas programs before joining the staff in 1985 as Director of Christian Education, a position I served for 15 years.

In 1999 I stepped out of children's ministry into Special Events and Programs which encompasses all generations.  This exciting ministry includes:

The Gallery of Living Art passion play.  I Co-produce this intergenerational annual production with our Choir director Joan Kuehn. (You can learn more about this superb ministry elsewhere on this website.

The Church Mouse Players.  First Lutheran's drama group which performs several times a year including during Lent and Advent.

Sunday Celebrations.  These thematic family events are held quarterly and include music, drama, worship and a supper meal. The children and youth actively participate.

Faith Stepping Stones (First Lutheran has four Faith Stepping Stones which include Baptism, Beginning formal Christian Education at two and one half years old. First Communion and Confirmation)

Little Lambs.  Little ones begin Sunday School with a parent/child orientation, a Sunday morning blessing during worship and a gift from the Pastor.

First Communion.  Two identical seminars are offered to fifth graders (and older students) and their parents to prepare for First Communion. (which is traditionally held in the Spring).  Students also participate in a special Sunday morning Sedar meal.

Confirmation begins in the 8th grade (look elsewhere on this website for more information).

Midweek Lenten Soup suppers and worship: For five weeks during Lent the Church Mouse Players present dramas during the Wednesday night worship. These middle of the week services include supper, worship, drama and communion to enhance your Lenten Journey. There are two services, one at 4:00 pm and one at 6:30 pm

Advent Festival.  Always held on the first Sunday of Advent.  Members and friends of all ages make Advent wreaths, calendars, Christmas ornaments, gifts and decorations, sample holiday treats and watch a Christmas play. Truly an all generation activity.

Church Anniversary Party/Event.  Every year we celebrate the anniversary of the beginning of this great congregation in some way.  We have held picnics, ice-cream socials, carnivals, musicals, melodramas and skits by the Choir and Church Mouse Players, talent shows and more.  Watch for it - it is always a surprise!
